Formed in 2006, within a year and a half, create and produce their debut album, Sweetness, yes!, coming out in April 2008 for the Distraction Rec.
One of their songs, even before the album is inserted in the TV series Skins , while the same fate is being denied to their cover of Give A Little Love , taken from the musical Bugsy Malone because Paul Williams does not grant them (not for the TV series, at least) use rights. Go and trust those who work with puppets !
The three young men on the outskirts of Newcastle upon Tyne which meet the simple first names of Paul, Alex Leon, start to perform frequently around the United Kingdom and soon became famous for the spirit of glam-pop of their concerts: colored lights, confetti, streamers, glitter and rhinestones galore, colorful balloons everywhere and dancing in wild clothes over the top.
They take the 80s synth and guitars, indie, a bit of David Bowie dressed as Freddy Mercury them seasoned with a bit 'of Depeche Mode that wink for sampling of Lemon Jelly and -famous casino of the B-52's , and that's it.
You choose a name that recalls hype around himself: Moira Stuart is none other than a cult of the BBC journalist, the only color for many years, talk to her lesbian relationship with - Pat Evans, and finally expulsion from the BBC for being too old!
Well, Paul, Alex Leon and the cards seem to rule them all their own: they are gggiòvani are English, are cool and are electro-indie. Even write funny things on their myspace.
Yet something, strangely, for some unfathomable mystery of the market and fortune, must not have worked.
At least three so far have collected a lot less successful than their peers in small groups like the Klaxons or New Young Pony Club (but they can count on the power of pussy and, then, you know, the music change ...).
Now, after a couple of years, our tries again, dusting off the 2008 album with a series of remixes by some of their compatriots as D_rradio or The Matinee Orchestra , just to name a couple, the duo of Mantua Tempelhof, the very interesting English Dot Tape Dot, Norwegian Orange Crush, the very good Danish Keith Canisius and some American guests as inevitable, for example, OK Ikumi . All
emerging young and willing, dedicated to the electronics of today, to finish the recovery of the glitch and new wave.
Overall, the disc is nice and runs away like a gentle but invigorating pop-awakening and, to put (almost) like a friend of mine would say, but not seminal, of course, pays tribute to electronics 80.
