This state of grace is a sense of fullness and peace, not disturbed by the fact that thoughts and memories ('intellect' and 'memory') continue to occupy the mind, but lets attention pass without stopping and without turning away from ' subject covered. It is therefore already a very special status to which many are able to reach, as Teresa says, even though few manage to to head over. What is needed, however, is a bit 'self-confidence, "a humble and holy presumption " of success. 9 But the event certainly does not end in the fullness of peace and said that it would be very little if it were only sporadic, removed from everyday life. Water alluded to here belongs to Teresa aforementioned metaphor. At this stage, the effort is much smaller because the gardener uses a wheel through which draws more easily. So this is an exercise that gradually refines the inner life, without having to make an effort in this sense. The effort, that is, exercise is not aimed at this or that virtue, but focuses nell''orazione ', after which the virtues make their way in the heart, as a natural consequence dell''orazione' itself. Teresa discovered here on his own something that was well known to the mystical tradition. Teresa divided into three levels, where you can examine different forms of the first difficulty, as the temptation to give up el'aridità interior, even when it seems that the efforts have no effect whatsoever and the beginner will feel depressed and lost. These different stages are called, in the Interior Castle, the term English moradas, that is stopping or stages, in the most recent Italian edition is firmly established the use of call 'work', from the Latin of the Gospel of John (14, 2), expression of feeling rather doubtful in Italian, which threatens the misunderstanding. So I think it would be better translated as 'stations', using the term which usually translates into the expression analogy used in Sufism, Muslim mysticism, which could not be completely foreign to Teresa, if only for reasons of geographical contiguity and the environment (the kingdom of Granada had fallen only 23 years before she was born).

Teresa of Avila is a personality that must be considered carefully by anyone who is interested also hinted at a spiritual life. Teresa it was a great spiritual teacher with a teaching practice honed for a lifetime. A life time 67 years, which ended in October 1582.

More precisely, one could say that the disordered state in which they are preventing access at that 'end' of the soul, the deep where there is no God (as they call him the first German mystics) in which the peace of God reigns forever.
